杰瑞•托馬斯。北德克薩斯州大學的系主任和教授。于1963年獲得富曼大學(Furman University)健康與運動科學專業學士學位；1964年獲得阿拉巴馬大學健康與人體運動專業碩士學位；并于1970年獲得該校該專業教育研究方向的博士學位。現擔任愛荷華州立大學教授。托馬斯教授的科研興趣涉及：兒童動作發展與學習，研究方法，動作熟練化的發展等。托馬斯教授所發表的216篇文章和章節中，有91篇發表在基于數據的參考雜志上，它們包括：《心理學簡報》《行為與腦科學》《實驗兒童心理學雜志》《動作行為期刊》《運動與鍛煉研究季刊》《運動與鍛煉的醫學與科學》《人體運動能力》《鍛煉與運動心理學期刊》《老齡化實驗研究》《實用生物機制期刊》等。托馬斯教授于2005年，被科研聯合體授予服務獎；于2003年，被北美運動與體力活動心理學協會授予學者獎；于2003年，被北美運動與體力活動心理學協會授予高級學術演講者稱號；于1999年，被美國健康、體育、休閑與舞蹈聯盟授予 C.H.
